Assisi

Greetings from Florence, where we have just checked into our hotel downtown. We spent the afternoon In Assisi, home of St. Francis. We wandered the lovely narrow streets, and had lunch there - yes, some enjoyed the local gelato (last night, too). We had a very interesting historical lecture about St. Francis and the three churches built one on top of the other, then a chance to explore all three of them. The lower one contains burial vault of St. Francis and some of his followers. Here is the group in the main square of Assisi. Beautiful weather, as you can see - cool when the sun is low, though.

We are a bit rushed right now as we have to meet shortly for dinner. We'll try to post some of the Rome pictures after dinner. The internet connection at the Nemi hotel was extremely slow (and we actually had to use the hotel's computer at their desk, so posting photos would have just tied up their computere for too long.) OK. Ciao a tutti.
